You will combine the physical workout and INTENSITY of a boxer’s training with extremely PRACTICAL self-defense knowledge, and hand-to-hand combat skills.

You will learn how to fight and DEFEND yourself, while getting an amazing WORKOUT at the same time.

Expect SMALL CLASSES with a maximum of 12 people per class. This will allow you to develop quickly because of the PERSONAL ATTENTION you will be given.

FITNESS

EXPECT A TOTAL BODY WORKOUT

You will develop physical STRENGTH through resistance exercises that are appropriate for your fitness level, plus learn special combat relevant exercises that will maximize your ability to generate striking power.

Your FLEXIBILITY training will consist of mostly East-German and Soviet methods which prepare you for instant flexibility readiness without requiring a full warm-up. You will feel looser and move better all the time, not just after stretching!

For developing your endurance and CARDIO-VASCULAR health a combination of Tabata methods (Dr. Izumi Tabata) and boxing drills give you an intense wind sucking workout packed into a 4 minute drill. These drills will drastically improve you lung’s VO2 capacity, and are noted for their fat burning and weight loss capabilities. Tabata interval training can do more to boost aerobic and anaerobic capacity than an hour regular jogging.

CIRCUIT TRAINING forms the foundation of your classes. Rapidly changing the activities keeps your brain active and the energy level high. The pace is fast enough to out run boredom.

VARIETY is the spice of successful training. New themes, subjects, and drills give you so much to think about that you almost forget you're working out. There is nothing quite as rewarding as the feeling you get from mastering a new skill after a hard days work.

TEAMWORK is what makes our classes so unique. The environment is positive and uplifting. Although we are learning how to fight, we still cultivate humility and meekness (power under control). The utmost care is given to foster a cooperative training culture.

SELF-DEFENSE

EXPECT TO LEARN HOW TO FIGHT

You will develop REAL FIGHTING SKILLS, which will immediately improve your ability to defend yourself. This is NOT a traditional Martial Art that requires years of training to be of any practical use to you. It is a SIMPLE and STRAIGHT FORWARD way of training to achieve rapid growth and proficiency.

Your training will help you to UNDERSTAND the big picture of a physical altercation, and how to deal with the many variables which accompany a confrontation. You’ll go beyond merely learning “moves”, to understanding the PRINCIPLES behind them. You will also develop the experience to know when and how to apply them effectively. You will be able to have CONFIDENCE in what you’ve learned because everything is tried and tested.



WHY BOXING?

Boxing is a perfect FOUNDATION to build off of. It is our country’s number #1 form of self-defense, and has stood the test of time. Boxing is EASY TO LEARN and it is something EVERYONE can do regardless of your size, age, or physical condition. Boxing teaches the basics of movement, hitting with power, and learning how to avoid getting hit. Boxing allows you to train in a way that is PHYSICALLY CHALLENGING so that you are guaranteed to get a workout. It is an essential element for combining self-defense knowledge and fitness development.



WHAT “STYLE” DO YOU TEACH?

The most accurate description of what I teach is MMA (mixed martial arts). There are two branches of MMA. The first and more popular is “Sport MMA” like the UFC. The second and older of the two is “STREET MMA”. The idea of mixing “styles” of martial arts was popularized by Bruce Lee in what he called JEET KUNE DO concepts (JKD). The main idea is to absorb what is useful and discard what isn’t. This allows for Continuous improvement and adaptation. This idea is as old as fighting itself, because any person who needs to defend their home and family will naturally learn everything available to help them succeed.

I do not train fighters.  I teach regular folks to become exceptionally strong.
