MISSION

If you are ONLY looking to learn Boxing develop Physical Fitness then come on in!

No need to read further...

But if you are looking for something more…then I’ll share with you my personal vision for the 19th Ward community that goes way beyond Boxing. Consider yourself invited and welcome to participate.

COMMUNITY NEEDS

Too many people in our society lack vision and direction. We need an all-consuming passion, something that takes us beyond being comfortable and self-absorbed, something that compels us to make sacrifices for the sake of a worthy goal. It is easy to be discouraged because the problems appear so big that even the government and other institutions can’t seem fix them.

The truth is… change begins from within…not by starting an organization.

Change happens by loving your neighbor…not by trying to fix the world.

Our goal is to strengthen people one by one and enlist them in the work of serving their community.
Come fight the good fight.

HEROES & EXAMPLES

One person who has been very inspirational for me is Corrie ten Boom (1892-1983), a Dutch woman in who faithfully served God and her community during the WWII era. Another motivating factor was the 2010 murder of one of my former youth instructors, Paul Vasconcellos Jr.,  only a few blocks from my house. The first helped me see what could be done, and the second points to what needs to be done. Some of my other heroes are William Booth for his passion and zealous good works, and George Mueller for his faith and trust in God’s provision.

HOW DOES BOXING FIT IN?

Boxing is my contribution to the effort. The Mission is way bigger than this little Boxing Club, but here is what I hope to contribute:

  • Help people cultivate confidence and a healthy lifestyle.
  • Teach others to Instruct, Coach, and Lead.
  • Offer an opportunity to develop discipline and a strong work ethic.
  • Provide a shared activity where people from different walks of life can intersect.
  • Build a platform to learn basic business operations for developing entrepreneurs.
  • Cultivate three Critical Skills: Initiative, Endurance, Perseverance
